Negli ultimi 20 anni, la definizione di un prezzo per l\u2019inquinamento ha contribuito a ridurre le emissioni di carbonio nell\u2019UE e la dipendenza dai combustibili fossili. Il primo Sistema di scambio delle emissioni (ETS1) copre l\u2019industria pesante, l\u2019energia, l\u2019aviazione e il trasporto marittimo. Un secondo sistema, ETS2, che riguarda le emissioni degli edifici e del trasporto su strada, \u00e8 stato rinviato, con avvio previsto solo nel 2028. <\/p>\n

\u00c8 preoccupante che molti parlamentari e governi abbiano dichiarato l\u2019intenzione di ritardare ulteriormente<\/a> o addirittura cancellare questo nuovo sistema<\/a>.<\/p>\n

La definizione di un prezzo dell\u2019inquinamento porta benefici sia alle persone che al pianeta, generando fondi per rendere pi\u00f9 accessibili soluzioni pulite ed efficienti dal punto di vista energetico<\/a> \u2014 dalle pompe di calore alle ristrutturazioni delle abitazioni, fino al miglioramento del trasporto pubblico (7).<\/p>\n

Fondamentale \u00e8 il Fondo sociale per il clima<\/a>, introdotto insieme all\u2019ETS2, pensato per sostenere le famiglie che ne hanno pi\u00f9 bisogno; aumentarlo ne migliorerebbe la portata.<\/p>\n

La tassazione del carbonio ci permette di ridurre la dipendenza dai costosi combustibili fossili e rafforzare la sicurezza energetica dell\u2019UE, restituendo il controllo nelle nostre mani. Questa transizione non solo ci protegge dalla volatilit\u00e0 dei prezzi e dal cambiamento climatico, ma porta anche a una migliore qualit\u00e0 dell\u2019aria e a comunit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 sane. <\/p>\n
